An anticyclone slowly weakens over New Zealand today meanwhile a low brews in the Tasman Sea flinging out a warm front which moves onto the West Coast of the South Island overnight.

Northland, Auckland, Waikato & Bay Of Plenty
Cloudy areas and occasional sun, may be a rogue shower or two especially afternoon / evening with the chance of a heavy fall. Some may remain fairly dry for much of the day. Light winds.
Highs: 16-20

Western North Island (including Central North Island)
A mix of sun and cloud, cloud thickens in the evening. Chance of a shower or two otherwise mainly dry. West to northwesterly winds.
Highs: 14-18

Eastern North Island
Morning cloud breaks to sunny spells with light north to northeasterly winds.
Highs: 18-20

Wellington
Sunny areas and increasing high cloud, overnight rain. North to northwesterly winds freshen.
High: 16

Marlborough & Nelson
Mostly sunny with high cloud thickening from afternoon, overnight patchy rain. North to northwesterly winds.
Highs: 16-20

Canterbury
Sunny areas and increasing high cloud, light winds tend southerly late morning then easterly in the evening. Late evening / overnight patchy rain.
Highs: 14-16

West Coast
Cloudy areas, chance of a shower or two then in the evening rain moves in. Rain may become heavy overnight. North to northeasterly winds.
Highs: 13-14

Southland & Otago
Sunny areas and increasing high cloud, light winds.
Highs: 13-15
