Friday’s national forecast

> From the WeatherWatch archives

A fairly short forecast today due to the ridge of high pressure over us. Mostly fine and sunny over the North Island with light winds and a little cloud, morning fog patches in Waikato and the Central North Island. A few morning showers about Hawkes Bay and Gisborne clear with sunny periods then increasing, cool southwesterlies ease.

Mostly sunny over the South Island with cloudy periods on the West Coast. Mostly fine and sunny elsewhere however there will be cloud at times particularly in coastal areas, winds will be light tending northerly or northeasterly in most places. Also there may be some morning fog about Central Otago and Southland which will gradually clear.

Temperatures will be pleasant in most regions for a winters day. 15 to 16 can be expected about the Bay of Plenty, about the coast north of Taranaki, also north of Auckland. 13 to 14 degrees elsewhere.

13 to 14 can be expected in most South Island places, perhaps a degree or two cooler about Central Otago.
