A low pressure system moves over the North Island today while northeasterlies flow over the South Island.

Northland, Auckland, Waikato & Bay Of Plenty
Northland sees showers at times in the west, mainly dry out east with areas of sun, winds from the southwest. Showers and sunny spells about Auckland, showers clear by evening. The Waikato sees morning rain ease then clear, cloud gradually breaks to some sun. Overnight fog possible. Light south to southeasterly winds.
Highs: 13-17

Western North Island (including Central North Island)
Some rain, chance of the odd heavy fall then easing from afternoon. Southeasterly winds.
Highs: 10-13

Eastern North Island
Rain (possibly heavy about Gisborne and perhaps Hawkes Bay) eases to patchy showers in the afternoon then clearing in the evening, Wairarapa may only see an early drizzle patch then mainly dry. Southeastely winds.
Highs: 12

Wellington
Mostly cloudy with the odd light shower possible, southeasterly winds.
High: 11

Marlborough & Nelson
Sunny spells with southeasterly winds.
Highs: 10-12

Canterbury
Mostly cloudy, chance of a light shower or two. There may even be some sun break through from afternoon. East to Nor’East winds.
High: 6-9

West Coast
Fairly cloudy Greymouth northwards with a few showers, areas of sun further south then some rain moves in overnight. Northeasterly winds.
Highs: 9-12

Southland & Otago
Sunny areas and high cloud about Southland and inland Otago, chance spot of rain later in the evening. Coastal Otago has cloudier skies in the morning with a chance of drizzle, afternoon sunny spells break through. East to northeasterly winds.
Highs: 6-9
