A front slowly pushes southwards over Northland and Auckland today, this front hooked into a low which is centred just to the northeast of the North Island. Meanwhile the South Island sits under a ridge of high pressure.

Northland, Auckland, Waikato & Bay Of Plenty

Mainly cloudy with areas of rain or drizzle, chance of a heavy fall. Easterly winds freshen from morning. About the Waikato and Bay Of Plenty conditions are mainly dry although there may be some brief rain at times.
Highs: 15-16

Western North Island (including Central North Island)

High cloud with some sun at times, east to southeasterly winds.
Highs: 12-16

Eastern North Island

Patchy rain or drizzle, east to southeasterly winds.
Highs: 14-15

Wellington

Cloudy with drizzle possible. Southeasterly winds.
High: 13

Marlborough & Nelson
Cloudy with a chance of drizzle about Marlborough otherwise mainly dry, afternoon sunny spells for Nelson. East to southeasterly winds.

Highs: 13-14

Canterbury

Cloudy with a chance of drizzle otherwise mainly dry, light easterly winds.
Highs: 11-12

West Coast

Any morning showers clear then sunny areas increase from afternoon, light southeasterly winds.
