A northeasterly airflow lies over most of New Zealand today, a weak area of low pressure forms south of Banks Peninsula over the South Island this afternoon.

Northland, Auckland, Waikato & Bay Of Plenty

Areas of cloud, sunny spells possible especially about Northland and Auckland. The odd shower more so afternoon / evening with the chance of a heavy fall / thunderstorm just south of Auckland. East to northeasterly winds.
Highs: 17-19

Western North Island (including Central North Island)

Areas of cloud, isolated showers late afternoon / evening mainly inland with the chance of a heavy fall. East to northeast winds.
Highs: 15-19

Eastern North Island

Cloudy areas, a few showers mainly in the morning. A few sunny spells possible in the afternoon. East to northeast winds.
Highs: 15-16

Wellington

Sunny spells with northerly winds.
High: 17

Marlborough & Nelson

Any morning cloud breaks to mostly sunny weather, there may even be a morning shower or two about Nelson then clear. Light northeasterly winds.
Highs: 16-18

Canterbury

Mostly sunny with East to Nor’East winds. Isolated showers develop in the afternoon inland (mainly about South and Mid Canterbury) possibly heavy with thunderstorms then easing in the evening. Showers may reach the coast for a time in the evening.
Highs: 15-17

West Coast

Sunny spells, chance of an isolated shower late afternoon / evening. Light winds.
Highs: 16-18

Southland & Otago

Areas of cloud, showers at times especially late afternoon / evening possibly heavy mainly inland. Light winds.
Highs: 15-18
