It’s a much colder day across Canterbury, but also Southland, Otago, Marlborough, Wellington and Wairarapa as a southerly from the Southern Ocean sweeps through, replacing yesterday’s hot nor’wester.
Showers fade today – as do the cold southerlies. A colder night is on the way for some sheltered southern areas, but a high is rolling back by Saturday bringing warmer, settled, weather to many regions.
Here are the regional forecasts for FRIDAY…
Northland, Auckland, Waikato & Bay Of Plenty
A mix of sun and cloud. Chance of a morning shower or two but mainly dry.
Highs: 23 to 26
Eastern North Island
Fairly cloudy with colder winds from the south
Highs: 17 to 21
Western North Island (including Central North Island)
A mix of sun and cloud with winds from the south to south east.
Highs: 24 to 26

Cold southerlies and passing clouds. Sunnier and much warmer on the Kapiti coast.
High: 16 to 20

Mostly Sunny. Colder winds and perhaps more cloud in Marlborough.

Colder but mostly dry, or becoming dry. Brisk, colder winds from the south to south east – fading out by evening, with northerlies returning overnight and into Saturday.

Highs: 12 to 17
