A humid easterly quarter airflow lies over the country today. Fairly cloudy for many with a few showers about, more so in the South Island but some North Island regions see a few showers too.

Northland
Cloudy areas with light winds in the morning, afternoon sunny areas. Chance of a light shower or two mainly afternoon.
Highs: 27-28

Auckland

Periods of cloud with northeasterly winds, chance of a shower mainly in the
morning.
High: 27

Bay Of Plenty

Mostly cloudy with a few morning showers about which clear, northeasterly
winds.
High: 26

Waikato & Central North Island

Sunny areas and some mid / high level cloud, northeasterly winds. Late
afternoon / evening expect a few isolated showers.
Highs: 27-28

Eastern North Island

Cloudy in the morning with a risk of drizzle, a few sunny spells develop in
the afternoon with east to northeast winds. Late afternoon / evening a few
isolated showers may develop about the ranges then in the evening cloud
thickening up again with some drizzle possible.
Highs: 24-25

Taranaki

Mostly cloudy with northeasterly winds, easing afternoon. A few spits of
rain move in during the evening.
Highs: 26-27

Western North Island

Sunny areas and some high cloud, cloud thickens from late afternoon then
later in the evening some rain moves in. Easterly winds.
High: 30

Wellington

Morning cloud breaks to sunny areas by midday, easterly winds. Cloud
thickens again late afternoon then some rain moves in later in the
evening.
High: 23

Nelson

Sunny areas and thickening high cloud, light winds tend northeast by
midday. Showers move in during the evening.
High: 25

Marlborough

Cloudy with easterly breezes, some drizzle possible at times then late
evening rain.
High: 26

Canterbury

Mostly cloudy with east to northeast breezes, some drizzle possible mainly
morning then again in the evening.
Highs: 21-22

West Coast

Mostly cloudy with northeasterly winds, showers about Fiordland spread into
South Westland in the afternoon then North Westland by evening. There is a
chance of a brief shower or two before these times however, showers could be
heavy about the ranges afternoon and evening.
Highs: 23-24

Coastal Otago

Mostly cloudy with east to northeast winds, some drizzle mainly morning and
evening.
Highs: 18-19

Central Otago

Cloudy with light southeasterlies, a few showers about mainly afternoon and
evening possibly heavy about the ranges.
High: 23

Southland

Cloudy with a few patchy showers, drizzle at times too. Southeasterly winds
pick up a little in the afternoon.
Highs: 22-23
