Friday’s national forecast

> From the WeatherWatch archives

A healthy southerly flow will keep things a bit cool today.

But, those south winds are thanks to a very large high pushing east toward New Zealand.  A high that will keep our weather quite settled for not only today, but for this weekend as well.

For today, look for plenty of sunshine for almost all of the country.  The only exception being the deep south of the South Island.  Clouds and showers are possible for Southland and Otago, especially the coastal sections.

Highs today will be from the middle teens to around 20.

Was much warmer in the South island than 20. Um this needs more accuracy perhaps 🙂

You’re correct – a very unusual set up today with a nor’wester developing.  Some parts inland reached 29 unofficially – very very rare with a southerly flow over the nation!
