A cold front will continue to move across the nation today.
That means chilly air, rain and wind will dominate most of the forecasts for this Friday. Fortunately though, Saturday is looking a bit brighter.
For the South Island, expect rain for the early part of the day. The rain will ease to showers from south to north as we get into the latter part of the day and on into the evening. Windy conditions are expected across the island with near gale force winds in the deep south and moderate to fresh winds in the north. Highs will range from 12 to 17.
For the North Island, expect rain and showers throughout the day. The most widespread rain should be from the southern Waikato on south. Showers are expected for Auckland and Northland with the far northern tip possibly not seeing rain until after noon. Expect moderate to fresh westerlies, Highs will range from 18 to 23.
