Rain or showers ease across the South Island this evening and gradually clearing for most by midnight. In the North Island the front that gave rain to the South Island today moves over tonight however it will have weakened unfortunately so little rain is expected.

Northland
Sunny spells with west to southwesterly winds, later in the evening or overnight southwesterly winds freshen bringing the chance of a brief shower otherwise mainly dry.
Tonight’s Lows: 13-15

Auckland

Clear spells and some cloud with west to southwest winds, a late southwest change brings a few brief showers which then clear.
Tonight’s Low: 15

Central North Island, Waikato & Bay Of Plenty

Westerlies with sunny spells and some increasing cloud, a few brief showers
may move through this evening with a southwest change. The Bay Of Plenty remains
mainly dry however with mostly clear skies.
Tonight’s Lows: 7-12

Eastern North Island

Sunny with west to northwest winds, easterlies about Hawkes Bay ease this
evening. Cool southwesterlies move into the Wairarapa this evening bringing some
cloud and a few showers then further north overnight however the change may be
mainly dry for Hawkes Bay and Gisborne with little in the way of shower
activity.
Tonight’s Lows: 10-12

Western North Island

Cloudy periods, the odd brief shower mainly this evening as winds change
southwest. Any showers then clearing overnight.
Tonight’s Lows: 8-10

Wellington

Mostly cloudy with brisk northerlies changing strong southerly, a few
showers move in with the southerly change.
Tonight’s Low: 11

Nelson

Mainly clear skies with brisk southwesterlies easing later this evening and
overnight. There may be some cloud for a time this evening.
Tonight’s Lows: 7-8

Marlborough

Winds change southwest later this afternoon or evening bringing some cloud
and the chance of a shower, showers more likely about southern Marlborough.
Showers then clear later this evening with clear skies developing. Cold
southwesterly winds easing overnight inland.
Tonight’s Lows: 4-6

Canterbury
Rain
with heavy falls, chance of thunderstorms and or hail inland. Areas of
percipitation clearing later this evening however the odd shower remaining out
on Banks Peninsula overnight. Brisk cold southwesterlies, dropping out overnight
in inland areas and becoming cold.

Tonight’s Lows: 3-6

West Coast

Remaining showers clear this evening, skies becoming clear by midnight.
Southwesterly winds ease. Cold for some inland sheltered areas overnight.
Tonight’s Lows: 5-7

Coastal Otago

Occasional showers, some may be heavy with hail then mostly clearing this
evening. There could be a staggler or two clearing overnight. Cold southwesterly
winds.
Tonight’s Lows: 7-8

Central Otago

Showers with a risk of hail, clearing this evening. Strong southerly winds
ease overnight with cloud breaking.
Tonight’s Lows: 2-4

Southland

Showers with a risk of hail, clearing this evening. Brisk southwesterlies
ease.
Tonight’s Low: 8
