Rain for the West Coast of the South Island tonight, high cloud and mainly dry out east. A similar pattern for the North Island under the influence of an anticyclone however little to no rain in the west, perhaps just the odd light shower on western coastlines. Clear skies out east.

Northland, Auckland & Waikato

Cloudy spells with light west to southwest breezes, there may be a light shower at times on western coastlines. Chance of a fog patch or two developing through the night also.
Lows tonight: 6-10

Central North Island, Bay Of Plenty

Mainly clear with light west to southwest breezes, some cloud at times about the Central North Island.
Lows tonight: 6-8

Eastern North Island

Clear tonight with light winds, some high cloud possibly about Wairarapa.
Lows tonight: 7-8

Western North Island

Cloudy spells with northwesterly breezes, chance of the odd shower especially about Kapiti.
Lows tonight: 10-12

Wellington

Clear with some high cloud. North to northwesterly breezes.
Low tonight: 12

Marlborough & Nelson

Clear with some high cloud, light winds tend northwest.
Lows tonight: 7-9

Canterbury

Thick high cloud with light winds near the coast, northwesterlies inland.
Low tonight: 8

West Coast

Rain, becoming heavy towards dawn. Northwesterly breezes.
Lows tonight: 9-10

Southland & Otago

Some high cloud, there may be a few showers about Southland and inland Central Otago.
Low tonight: 5-8
