Messy skies tonight as a front continues to moves eastwards over the country. Expect some rain for most although some will remain dry, mainly Southland and Central Otago. Showers also clear about the West Coast of the South Island and for Marlborough.
Northland, Auckland, Waikato
Cloudy tonight with northeasterlies tending more northwest during the night, rain about the Waikato eases to the odd shower later this evening. The odd shower elsewhere with dry spells at times. Some further rain moves into Northland during the night.

CNI & BOP
Rain becoming widespread this evening, the odd heavy fall develops especially about eastern Bay Of Plenty. Northeasterly winds tend westerly during the night.

Eastern North Island
Areas of rain with north to northeasterly breezes, rain may become heavy towards dawn about the Gisborne and East Cape.
Lows tonight: 12-13
Wellington & Western North Island
Rain easing to the odd shower overnight, northerly winds.
Lows tonight: 11-13
Nelson
Cloudy with light winds, the odd shower at times, long dry spells too.
Lows tonight: 10-11
Marlborough
Areas of rain clearing this evening, then expect a mix of clear and cloudy spells. Winds mainly light.
Lows tonight: 8-10
Canterbury
Cloudy with light southwesterlies, expect showers mainly about Mid and South Canterbury.
Lows tonight: 7-9
West Coast
Any remaining showers clear, clear spells develop. Light winds.
Lows tonight: 8-9
Southland & Otago
Areas of cloud, mainly dry with light winds. About coastal Otago there may be a few showers develop however.
Lows tonight: 6-9
