Friday Newsfeed: High pressure today but windy, cooler, change moves through this weekend

Just like last weekend another cold change is moving up the nation with a temperature drop, rain and showers and some windy weather too – but no where near as rough as last weekend was!

For Friday conditions won’t be too bad across NZ with high pressure over us. The eastern North Island has some wet weather around Hawke’s Bay mostly, whilst the eastern South Island – especially around Dunedin and the Otago coastline – will be cloudy with the chance of some drizzle.

On Saturday the cold front moves up the South Island as showers in the North Island bubble up across the day – possibly heavy inland with isolated thunderstorms in the upper inland North Island (like Waikato and surrounds). Ahead of this front temperatures will be pushed towards (or over) 30 degrees in the eastern North Island – but in the lower South Island they will drop to the low teens at the warmest point of the day.

Sunday is cooler for the North Island and windier.

Next week high pressure returns.
