Autumn is definitely upon us and another sign to look for is thick fog forming in the Waikato region. This has happened this morning with fog blanketing Hamilton and surounding areas.
The long nights (which are almost exactly as long as the days now) means we have better conditions for fog in Waikato, with warm days, long cool nights, and the region being in a basin, surrounded by warm sea water.
The foggy start this morning is the first real foggy morning so far this year, according to some locals who contacted WeatherWatch.co.nz
In the past hour it appears the fog has started to lift – and by mid to late morning is expected to be completely burnt off with mostly sunny weather remaining.
