Final wave of heavy showers moving into Auckland, western NI

Heavy showers eased across Auckland City this afternoon but shortly they will move back in.  Some showers will be squally.

The heavy showers are currently moving into Waitomo and Waikato and also lie just off the Northland coast.

WeatherWatch.co.nz expects the heaviest showers to ease for most places before midnight.

Gale force winds are howling across Cape Reinga this evening with winds average 80km/h and gusting to 105 on the exposed cape.

Winds have eased in the Auckland region considerably this afternoon with strongest gusts so far this evening only reaching 40 to 55km/h.

Why don’t we have a good rainradar here in New Zealand we can watch on the internet.
I saw one in Holland that was really cool. Way more details than the one I know off here in NZ.

Because for some reason our government wants to control it for a price.  It’s very unfortunate in my opinion, as every western country I know allows the public to view it for free, animated, at regular interviews.
