Early Autumn chill? Your Main Centre outlook on Wednesday

> From the WeatherWatch archives

An anticyclone sits over most of the country through the midweek – keeping New Zealand’s weather largely settled and consistent.

It is looking like a cold start, though, especially for much of the inner South Island – leading to a light frost or temperatures sitting around 0 or –1C.

The warmest weather will be in the afternoon, from Northland down through to Taranaki in a south to southeasterly airflow.

Main Centres

Auckland

Cloudy to start with southerly breezes through the morning, but a break into sunny and fine conditions for the afternoon means temperatures rise too – into the mid 20s.

Wellington

Sunny and clear through most of the day – some high cloud here and there – along with southeast breezes and a high in the late teens.

Christchurch

Southerly winds and a drizzly start clear up a bit towards the afternoon, though temperatures stay in the mid to late teens for most.
