A little update – all has returned to usual after 145mm rain in my area but quite a bit of future firewood in paddocks, still showery but from the SW with temp at 19C and 23 ducks in attendance for their bread this morning after spending yesterday elsewhere having fun. ( They’re wild ducks, by the way, but not stupid… )

Have just uploaded a picture to you guys of our flooding out here in Rukuhia. Rain doesn’t appear to be easing much at present.

SH1 at base of Mangamukas is closed at the bridge north of Okaihau. Hubby is stranded there. No one is getting through.
It’s been pouring here since early last night. Huge amount of surface water and flooding in paddocks. ( and our house is leaking like a sieve!)
does anyone know of a website that tells of the road closures?

Since the rains commenced last night we have had 140mm as of a few minutes ago. The Waimamaku River ( just north of Waipoua Forest )is in flood and some farms are flooded but the road up the Wekaweka is marginal but usable. Was very windy at daybreak but now is quite still. Temp is 20C and rains packing in with 1pm rain radar ( Metservice ) indicating more heavy stuff still abourt.

Steady as she blows. Rain coming in at around 45 % with gusts. No reports yet of slips. High tide coming up tho- so could get interesting up the coast, and in the valleys.

Pouring in Hamilton where I am, and pouring in Whitianga where hubby is. Hope it doesn’t flood over there, as he is coming over tonight. Big puddles around here. Huge puddles at home in Whiti. Funny how it os always worse over there. Glad we are moving to Mamaku in a week.

Been raining for some six hours from steady to heavy bu we’re used to it from Waipoua to Opononi. However, I can now clearly hear the river over the rain on the roof and have sprung a minor leak in my old house’s kitchen area – as its just after 4am, leak can wait till daybreak and I’ll have a sneakies at the river around 7am as it can impact on the schoolbus given we flood easily some 8-9kms downstream. ( I’m 12 1/2 kms up the Wekaweka Road. )
