Different outlooks for north and south on Saturday

> From the WeatherWatch archives

On Saturday a low pressure system moves out of the north Tasman Sea and sinks south eastwards towards the North Island, while a ridge lies over the upper South Island.

North Island

It’s looking wet for northeastern parts of the North Island, while it should stay mainly dry with cloudy areas from Taranaki southwards in the west, and about the Wairarapa in the east.
Rain may be heavy in the morning for Northland, and during the day for Gisborne and East Cape.

South Island

The South Island is mostly sunny, although morning cloud clears Nelson and Marlborough.
Showers about Fiordland spread into South Westland in the evening, then further north overnight.
