The weekend’s deluge in the Bay of Plenty has brought good news for local anglers.
Timberlands has opened the Kaingaroa Forest for recreational access over the next two weekends, allowing anglers to fish the Rangitaiki River and Flaxy Lakes.
Access through the forest has recently been restricted due to high fire danger levels.
Eastern Fish and Game regional manager Rob Pitkethley says the rain has now dropped the fire danger to low.
He is encouraging anglers to make the most of the next two weekends, and act responsibility in the forest.
