It’s been a wild afternoon over parts of the north with still the occasional severe thunderstorm warning being issued.
Heavy downpours with lightning and thunder have been reported in various areas however long, dry spells in between events are also quite common.
How is the weather at your home or workplace this afternoon? It appears more storms are likely to continue until tonight.

Got really excited this afternoon as we watched the clouds building up north west of us… And they were heading straight for us…..lightning….. Thunder…it was all good! I figured I had about half an hour before it hit so jumped in the shower. 15 mins later I was out checking out the window and it looked like it was over! We had a few spits of rain for the next 5 mins and it was all over. Ripped!

Very hot here in Kaitaia with a gentle sou’wester blowing. Clouds are building to the nor’east and getting darker.

Sunny with no wind but cloudy patches here in Stratford again. Wish we could have a good storm like Auckland!

Northern part of Papakura – recent very heavy rain with no wind. Lightning observed to south and frequent thunder. Can see a clearance to the northwest with the Waitak’s now clearly visible but still very dark to the east.
