For the North Island we have a mix of cloudy areas and sunny spells, a few showers about also but still many places are remaining dry. Winds are from the west or southwest, a little fresh at times.
The warmest temperatures currently are about Napier and Hastings with 22 degrees, the coolest about the Central North Island sitting around 10 to 11 degrees, quite a contrast.
For the South Island the West Coast is looking a bit sunnier then expected but that will be more then welcome. Rain moves into Fiordland overnight or perhaps more towards dawn on Wednesday. Winds are from the west or southwest.
The eastern and northern South Island are looking mainly sunny with winds from the north or northeast. Otago and Southland currently have a mix of sun and cloud with west to southwesterly winds. The warmest high for the South Island looks to be Twizel on 21 degrees.
There may be an isolated shower for eastern parts of Otago and perhaps for inland Canterbury along the foothills late afternoon / evening but most should remain fairly dry.
Morgan Donoghue of Auckland took this photo this morning in Auckland, he says “Finally a nice day in Auckland although a little breezy. Hopefully stays fine for rest of day.”

A small shower this afternoon in New Lynn. Otherwise a lovely sunny day with fresh breezes.
