Current conditions around New Zealand – 3PM

> From the WeatherWatch archives

It’s an unsettled day for most of New Zealand due to a low pressure system, it’s centre is currently hovering over the lower North Island and will gradually pass out to the east of the country this evening.

Most regions are cloudy with some rain or shower activity but it is gradually easing. The exception is about Nelson / Marlborough where there is some heavy rain still and this will move onto the lower North Island late afternoon or evening with a southerly change then ease overnight.

The warmest centre right now is Hastings on 23 degrees. Kaikoura the coldest on 10 degrees. The windiest place is Auckland with strong Westerlies around 45 km/h gusting up to 60 km/h which is nearly gale force, these winds will ease a little overnight but remain fairly breezy.

The sunniest weather, well right now it’s South Westland. Normally a part of the country which has rain or cloud, today it’s sunny with south to southeasterly winds and temperatures sitting in the high teens.
