Cool start this morning

> From the WeatherWatch archives

The weather was cool this morning across many parts of New Zealand with less than favourable conditions for a warm afternoon in the south due to cloud cover.

In the North Island some scrappy coastal clouds are also keeping some areas a little cooler however sunnier conditions are still predicted to prevail tomorrow and into next week.

The clearing skies and winds from the southerly quarter saw Rotorua, Taupo and Hastings all match Waiouru at 8am with just 4 degrees.

It was 5 in Hamilton while cloudy conditions and 12 degrees greeted Aucklanders.

In the South Island a weakening cold front saw a cold change arrive overnight.  At 8am this morning Dunedin had just 3 degrees while Queenstown was on 4 along with Timaru.  Christchurch had high cloud and 5.

T’was a little cooler early this morning, the sunrise was lovely N,S,E,W. and the moon glowed nicely over Avondale N. against the peachy coloured clouds.
