Most centres across the country have started off cold and windy today as a very brief cold snap crosses us.
In the North Island a gale southerly roared through Wellington this morning while a near gale southerly hit southern Taranaki.
It was bitterly cold in Taupo this morning with just 3 degrees and rain at 8am meanwhile a gale southerly roared over the Manukau Heads with gusts over 90km/h. Winds weren’t gale force in Auckland this morning but gusts to 70km/h were recorded at the airport.
In the South Island gale force southerlies continue in Kaikoura along with showers and a wind chill around zero.
Christchurch isn’t much warmer with showers also moving in this morning and a wind chill hovering around zero degrees.

Nice and chilly in Wellywood today, a great spring southerly for all.
I can’t see it attributed to Climate Change though, that has been going on for mellenia.
this is just a normal spring southerly buster.
But Global Warming, now called Climate Change because the former was not having the effect the GW agenda instigators would have liked, is to be trully feared – yeh right!!
