After several warm nights temperatures are dropping quickly Friday night under clear skies.
At 8:30pm Thursday night it was 16 degrees in Auckland but Friday night it’s down to 7 already prompting the Weather Watch Centre to modify Friday’s overnight low in Auckland from 7 to 4.
On the Coromandel Peninsula the south easterly flow has helped dropped the temperature to 6 degrees this hour while it’s just 4 in Taupo and 1 in Waiouru.
It’s 5 in Masterton, Palmerston North and Levin with 6 in Hutt Valley and 8 in Wellington.
In the South Island Blenheim and Oamaru are on just 3 while Kaikoura and Christchurch share 5. Timaru is on 2 along with Queenstown and Dunedin is on 7. Invercargill has 5.

out side right now its crisp underfoot and the ice is on the fence, Just took the dog for her wee walk before bed. jack frost is here. A sudden change to the wild and windy weather we have just experienced with road conditions so bad, last night that yet another night where black ice making them just as bad as the slips.
Corr roll on the summer and more settled weather please… jack frost has set my temp at 4 outside. Phil you be a lot warmer up in Auckland than down here. There is still some cloud cover, but it is thinning out. No moon has dared shown its face as yet. Still there is time ;->
