Cloud and showers – The Big Picture on Tuesday

> From the WeatherWatch archives

It’s looking a little gloomy for most parts of New Zealand on Tuesday – with a southerly airflow building in the South Island, and a weak high sitting over the North Island.

For most of the North Island it’s looking fairly cloudy – with the odd shower about, and westerly winds for most.
Auckland and Northland stay mostly dry, and the same goes for Wellington.
The East Coast is mainly dry too, but there may be a shower or two about in the afternoon.

Southerlies build in the east of the South Island, with rain gradually moving northwards during the day.
The West Coast is fairly cloudy also – with the odd shower about, then some late rain as northwest winds change to the southeast.
Rain eases overnight for most, although it may hang around for Buller, through into Tuesday.
