Climate change figures not accurate?

> From the WeatherWatch archives

Doubts are being cast on the basis of the Government’s Emissions Trading Scheme.  National passed its amended ETS on Wednesday.

The Climate Change Science Coalition says NIWA adjustments to temperature records for the last 150 years have created a warming trend or greatly exaggerated warming.

Spokesman Bob Dedekind says the adjustments cast strong doubt on the Government’s urgency on climate change.

He says if we’re being taxed under the new ETS that’s been rushed through as a matter of urgency, then we really need to understand why we’re being taxed.

A group of climate-change skeptics is asking NIWA to please explain its temperature adjustments.

The Climate Science Coalition has redone New Zealand temperature graphs for the past 150 years by taking away adjustments imposed by NIWA.

Spokesman Dedekind says without the adjustments, New Zealand’s temperature has been remarkably stable for a century and a half.

He says the ball is back in NIWA’s court to explain exactly how the adjustments were made.

Mr Dedekind says it is not at all clear to tax payers.
