It was a freezing cold start to the day for some parts of the country – sleet and freezing rain in Wellington and the Hawke’s Bay, while snow affected a number of highways in the North and South Islands.
A cold southerly change is to blame – and while it is starting to clear heading into Friday, showers and snow may stick around in some regions.
