Christchurch just misses out on the warm temperatures

> From the WeatherWatch archives

Christchurch was nearly there today, the northwest just didn’t manage to break through and warm the city up into the mid 20’s like other centres in the Canterbury region.

Northeasterly breezes persisted about the city however late this afternoon they are easing off and we could get quite a pleasent evening even if the temperature doesn’t get too much higher.

Anticyclonic gloom has plagued Northland while about Auckland southwards the skies broke into sunshine late this morning for quite a nice day, southwesterly breezes have been a little breezy though but they will ease tonight.

Tomorrow will be a similar pattern as we have had today, winds will tend more westerly over the North Island and high cloud will be thicker over the South Island as a front moves over later in the day.
