Christchurch gets bitter cold

> From the WeatherWatch archives

The storm that affected Cantabs yesterday afternoon and that moved onto Wellington last night, has left bitterly cold conditions in the garden city.

It’s 2 degrees at 8am which is one of the coldest starts to the day in many, many months under a thick veil of high cloud.

The forecast is for the sun to break through and perhaps an optimistic high of 20 degrees.

After weeks of fine and settled weather, the organisers of the Ellerslie flower show must be wondering why the gods haven’t been smiling on them over the last couple of days.
