Caution urged for South Island motorists this week

> From the WeatherWatch archives

A word of caution for South Island motorists.

Rain, hail, and snow is on this week’s agenda, and the New Zealand Transport Agency is asking motorists to take care.

Canterbury/West Coast Journey Manager Lee Wright says June to August is the most dangerous time for driving on South Island roads, but often motorists fail to prepare for their journeys.

Ms Wright says motorists should make sure their vehicle is winter fit, as crashes can often result in more serious consequences.
