A cold front moves up the country today, dropping temperatures in the South Island and dropping some rain in the North Island.

North Island:
Patchy rain moving from the west to the east across the day. A few isolated heavy falls, but a lot of light to moderate rain also, with dry spells in the mix. Winds from the north swing to the south or south west by the end of the day. Mainly dry in the upper north.
Highs: 17 to 28

South Island:
South to south west winds with showers mainly in the south and east, but wet weather also in the upper South Island. Sunniest in the west. 
Highs: Colder with highs of just 12 up to 26
