Computer models are consistently predicting a low pressure system forming in the central Tasman Sea early next week bringing heavy rain to many parts of the North Island on Wednesday.
WeatherWatch.co.nz says while it’s too early to know for sure which regions will be most exposed the models do show the low bringing heavy rain into western parts of the North Island along with northern areas under a strong north to north east wind flow.
The low is another in a series of recent Tasman Sea lows. So far 2010 has seen very few lows moving in from the Tasman Sea.
It’s unclear if rain will be heavy enough to create warnings but today MetService indicated it’s a possibility.
