There’s been a lot of sunny weather across large portions of New Zealand but the clouds are coming back in for many over Friday and the weekend. High pressure will still cover the country on Friday but by Saturday it shifts off the South Island and by Sunday it leaves the North Island.
After the high a cold front with windier weather moves back in. More high pressure returns to northern NZ next week.
As you can see in the InfoGraphics below the cloudy areas actually increase in size on Friday compared to Thursday as the centre of the high crosses New Zealand and starts to move out to the east.
Eastern areas, which have been a little cloudy at times lately in both islands, may well become sunnier for a time as we head into Saturday (thanks to the westerly winds) – especially in the North Island.
