Parents being driven crazy by children as cabin fever takes over in the school holidays may soon get a break as the weather continues to clear.
There will still be periods of rain, but finer spells will start to take over, especially towards the end of the week.
This doesn’t necessarily mean warmer days, warned WeatherWatch’s Philip Duncan.
“It will get colder this week. Overnight lows are going to drop.”
The average temperature for July, so far, has been warmer than that for June.
Mr Duncan said things were set to clear up on Friday, with a positive forecast for the weekend.
Skiers and snowboarders will be greeted by finer weather.
“There’s been a fresh batch of snow, so there are perfect skiing conditions,” said Mr Duncan.
There is a westerly moving into a southerly across most skifields, and the temperature has dropped.
MetService forecasts also indicated a finer end to the week.

I’m glad to hear it…. I much prefer the colder nights and lovely blue sky days to milder but wetter days….. at least we can get the kids out to the park without getting soaked.
