Autumn change arrives in South, heads north

> From the WeatherWatch archives

Conditions over the South Island are much cooler this morning following a cold change yesterday – with temperatures not likely to improve over the next 48 hours.

WeatherWatch.co.nz says another cold front is moving across the island today and will reinforce the colder weather which arrived yesterday.

Temperatures are well down on previous mornings.  As of 8:30am it was just 2 degrees in some inland parts of Otago and only 4 in Christchurch.

Wanaka has 5 and Invercargill has 10, however is also accompanied by a near gale westerly.  Timaru has 6, Oamaru 7 and Dunedin 10.

In the North Island today will be slightly cooler following a weak cold front that passed over last night.  Temperatures this morning are mostly in the mid teens apart from the lower North Island where it’s currently around 11 degrees.
