The cold spring southerly over New Zealand today is standing out clearly on the Australia/New Zealand current temperature map.

Many main centres in New Zealand have been in the single digits to mid teens – down over 10 degrees for some areas on a day ago.

Compared to Australia – which is much hotter today – winter has briefly returned to New Zealand…but it won’t last long, warmer weather returns over the next 48 hours as the southerly fades away to our east.
