I might as well wade in to this one!
I think you’ll find if you read through the stories we actually don’t have a massive focus on Auckland in our news updates. We write about wherever the weather is… in fact the majority of updates last week concentrated on South Waikato and King Country!
It probably feels more Auckland heavy because we have the Auckland forecast at the top of the page. And of course there are 1.4 million people in Auckland so yesterday’s heat was definitely news worthy.
About 75% of our visitors come from Auckland… Christchurch/Canterbury is our second biggest region but they only make up for about 15%… so you can see why we tend to mention Auckland in stories.
I’m pleased to say that we are working on trying to get Christchurch forecasts this year – it’s a slow process though because of the economy, but we have a small team working on this already.
Thanks for all the feedback – it’s good to be reminded about other regions/centres… so keep the comments coming as it helps our team focus on more than just Auckland!

Confused? Just had a glance at all the latest headlines, and this is the only one that mentions Auckland.

Pukekohe for the last hour has had torrential rain with much lightening and thunder. Fire sirens have been continuous.

Please send some of that rain North – I’m sick of politician clouds (clouds that promise rain, but never deliver).
