An anticyclone covers New Zealand today bringing mainly settled conditions, it doesn’t mean cloud free everywhere however.

Northland, Auckland, Waikato & Bay Of Plenty

Mostly sunny with light south to southeasterly winds. Some cloud may build about Northland in the afternoon bringing the low risk of a late afternoon / evening shower otherwise mainly dry.
Highs: 20-21

Western North Island (including Central North Island)

Mainly sunny with light southeasterly winds.
Highs: 18-19

Eastern North Island

Cloudy areas and the odd shower, sunny spells may break through at times from afternoon. Light southeasterly winds.
Highs: 17-18

Wellington

Sunny spells with southeasterly winds easing during the day.
High: 17

Marlborough & Nelson

Sunny with afternoon east to northeast winds.
Highs: 17-18

Canterbury

Morning low cloud or fog breaks to sunny spells, northeasterly winds.
Highs: 16

West Coast

Mostly sunny with light winds, some cloud about Fiordland. Cloud may spread to most parts of the coast overnight.
Highs: 16-18

Southland & Otago

Morning cloud breaks to sunny spells, mostly sunny by midday about Otago. There may be a morning drizzle patch about coastal Otago. Light variable winds tending northeast about the Otago coast.
Highs: 15-18
