The capital has this morning been jolted by another earthquake.
The earthquake has been described by those who felt it as “quite strong” but “short”.
GeoNet says it struck at 10.16 this morning, measuring 4.2 in magnitude and was centred 10 km west of Porirua at a depth of 30km.
The jolt was reportedly felt throughout the Wellington region, including the Hutt Valley and Kapiti Coast.
No reports have come in of damage.

Quake had a noisey rumble and a short sharp jolt here in Kapiti.
Just another friendly reminder! So re-did my water bottles and checked my emergency kit, especially to check the chocolate hadn’t expired, as it must have chocky in it!!!!
