Inland areas of the country have temperatures well below zero this morning after another night of heavy frosts.

Hamilton, Taupo and Paeroa are currently on minus 3 but Hamilton nudged minus 5 earlier this morning.

Palmerston North also recorded temperatures below the freezing mark and further south, Christchurch, Queenstown and Nelson have dipped below zero.

The far north has bucked the trend this morning, as a milder northerly has pushed the mercury into double digits already.
