The rain clouds are here in the north. As a sizeable low in the Tasman Sea slowly tracks eastwards it will brush northern New Zealand bringing a mix of drizzle patches, dry spells but also heavy downpours which may cause some localised flooding.
As you can see in this animation below of the MetService rain radar, but displayed and tweeted by NZTA this morning, the rain clouds are now arriving.
