Purple: Northeast winds blow around the northeastern quarter of the North Island – gusting strongly at times in exposed areas of the coast in particular
Light Blue: Frosty and cold to start in interior parts of both islands
A front approaches the western side of the country, though it won’t make landfall until Thursday
Dark Blue: Heavy rain and showers on the west coasts of both islands at times – as well as Nelson, Marlborough and parts of Northland
A front moves across NZ in a west to east fashion during the day, resulting in spells of heavy rain around parts of the country before easing late in the day
Blue: Rain for the western coasts of both islands
Purple: Strong winds in the east of the North Island, Cook Strait and South Island – as well as Canterbury
The front pushes northwards over the country during the day, meaning gusty northeast winds in the east, and heavy spells of rain in the west of the country.
