A spreading southeasterly – The Big Picture on Wednesday

> From the WeatherWatch archives

A southeasterly airflow sits over the South Island, before gradually spreading over the North Island during the day.

For the most part, the South Island is looking cloudy – with rain or showers in the east gradually easing, and mostly clearing in the evening.
Some rain stays in the west also (around North Westland) which mostly clears during the afternoon, while South Westland is looking mainly dry and Fiordland too.

The North Island is quite cloudy, with drizzle in the east about the Wairarapa, which then spreads northwards along the East Coast, into the afternoon.
The odd shower spreads elsewhere in the North Island, becoming heavy in spots in the afternoon and evening for inland areas.
