February is now with us but the westerlies of the last couple of days aren’t expected to leave us in a hurry.
Yesterday westerlies of some description covered much of the country and although this morning there’s an easing for a period of time, another front is quickly heading our way and the northwesters are expected to pick up once again in the south.Weatherwatch.co.nz received reports yesterday of very strong westerly winds over central NZ with gusts making driving conditions challenging in a number of areas.
Warm conditions are on the cards out east as the fohn winds increase over the mainland later today but West Coasters are set for more cloud to build and rain to set in later ahead of the front that moves through tomorrow.
Tomorrow should also see the nor westers eventually giving way to a southwesterly, bringing dry conditions eventually to the west but a few showers along the eastern fringes.

Westerlies not too bad,but too many SW changes inbetween, quite a few already and summers not finished, hopefully we get back to strong NE winds again and plenty of settled highs inbetween….many highs (provided theyre centred across us or light easterly flows) also bring convergence and it means higher chances of thunder too..

The metservice has this weekend through to next Thursday as rain with little wind??? Looking on the rain forecast maps shows nothing close. This weekend we have a car show on in Morrinsville so what are we to expect over our way? Hopefully bright sunshine and high cloud would be good:)

Our forecast shows a mixture of sunny days and cloudy days – no significant rain at all for Waikato in the next 10 days according to latest data and modelling with just a 10% chance of rain next Thursday.
The weather pattern has become a bit more changeable to feel free to ask again closer to the time.
