A line of showers – #WeatherRisks on Monday

> From the WeatherWatch archives

There’s heavy showers in the offing for the northern half of the North Island, along with the possibility of hail and thunderstorms for some.

Isolated showers are present for almost the whole of the North Island through the day, though the greatest risks for anything more are above Lake Taupo, almost in a straight horizontal line dividing the island up.

Our models show plenty of heavy showers about in some upper North Island regions in the morning, along with the right conditions for hail at times – but it’s not looking electrically active until there is some heat and energy in the land to power things, so any thunder is far more likely towards afternoon and into the evening.
