More snow may have fallen heavily in some southern and central areas over the last 24 hours, but temperatures still managed to be a little cheerful in some parts.
Eastern Southland folk might argue that point, as Gore crept to just 4 degrees but other snow affected centres, such as Hanmer Springs and Milford Sound, topped 7 degrees in a westerly flow.
Sunniest spots were again out east from Gisborne to Canterbury but once more, northerners topped the poll with 16 degrees in Kaitaia and Whangarei. The coolest North Island spot went to Taupo with 8.
To the main centres and Auckalnd, Hamilton and Wellington got to 14 degrees, Christchurch, bathed in sunshine, made 13 and Dunedin felt the nippy air with only 7 degrees.
A cool night again is on the way in southern regions and a southerly may flick the eastern coastline tonight.
