A couple of colder nights on the way

> From the WeatherWatch archives

Temperatures tonight, but more so overnight tomorrow, are set to drop after a number of mild mornings in the North Island lately.

Overnight lows have frequently been in double digits for northern centres but as a brief period of high pressure moves in the warming affect of clouds overnight will go.

Overnight lows will drop into mid single digits early on Wednesday morning for Auckland and Northland while further south it will be closer to zero.

Tonight will be cooler for most North Islanders while South Islanders will see a slight lift, especially in the east, due to cloud and wind in the area.

Despite the cooler nights most areas should remain frost free and any frosts will be light.
