A building southerly – Your Main Centre outlook on Tuesday

> From the WeatherWatch archives

A southerly airflow starts to build over the South Island during the day, bringing some reasonable rain to Canterbury later in the evening or overnight – which will be very welcome in some parts of the region.

Northland is once again the place to be, with a ridge of high pressure sitting over the region – also affecting as far down as Auckland, settling things in the upper North Island.

Main Centres

Auckland

Westerly winds won’t drag temepratures down too much – with mid 20s your high, and a mix of sun and cloud through the day – and the chance of an overnight shower or two.

Wellington

Norhterlies and northwesterlies through the day for Wellington, before winds turn southerly towards evening – and temperatures in the early 20s, and sunny spells.

Christchurch

Cloud, drizzle and spells of rain through Canterbury from morning, as the southerly change affects the South Island first – temperatures up towards 20C.
