A break in the weather – The Big Picture on Thursday

> From the WeatherWatch archives

Conditions around the country on Thursday look fairly settled – at least compared to what we’ve seen recently, as a southwesterly airflow over the country eases further during the day.

For the North Island, it’s mainly sunny in the west – although Auckland and Northland see some cloud at times, and the risk of a morning shower in the west.
The East Coast, from Gisborne to Wairarapa, sees some sun at first, then cloud developing in the morning, with a southerly airflow and the low risk of a morning shower.
Cloud breaks away later in the evening.

For the South Island it’s mostly sunny everywhere, with southwesterly breezes along the West Coast and about Southland & Otago easing during the day.
There’s perhaps an early shower for Southland and the Catlins – otherwise mainly dry.
